ICSC UPDATE

Putting Highland on the Map!

Last month, the Highland Area Chamber of Commerce and representatives from the City of Highland attended the International Council of Shopping Center’s world-renowned Spring Convention held in Las Vegas.  Commercial developers and corporations from across the globe attend the convention each year in order to seek out available real estate that is ripe for commercial investment.  Highland City and Chamber attendees made an excellent effort in promoting the Highland area to many of these developers, and retained several exciting leads on potential projects.

Chamber Vice-President Mike Stoffel marketed the Highland area to numerous companies including In-N-Out, McDonald’s, Starbucks, AM/PM, Steinmart, Subway, and Nordstrom Rack – all of whom expressed an immediate interest in the Vestar development on the north side of Greenspot Road.  Jack in the Box and Bridgestone Tires also proclaimed their intentions in conjunction with the commercial development anchored by Lowe’s.  In addition, City of Highland Community Development Officer John Jaquess had a long conversation with one particular developer who envisioned the possibility of constructing a vast and innovative entertainment complex which would neighbor the Mission development on the opposite side of Greenspot.  Both Stoffel and Jaquess maintain confidence in Target’s commitments to develop within the Golden Triangle, and extensive efforts were made by the representatives to entice Costco Wholesale into negotiations with Wal-Mart regarding the potential sale of their property in the Triangle as well.

Most assuredly, the Highland area is high on the radar for developers and corporations looking to expand within the Inland Empire.  Our strategic business location as an essential corridor to both the mountain and low desert communities is attracting investors from all over.  Thus, your recommendations and support of the Chamber are more important than ever!

The Chamber is committed to keeping our members updated on the progress of commercial development in our area, and we implore your suggestions and concerns regarding the same.  Our goal is to create a strong local economy and represent the interests of business while working together with local government on these exciting new developments.
